Easton, MD — Residents and community leaders gathered today in downtown Easton to celebrate Talbot County’s 365th anniversary, honoring more than three centuries of history, tradition, and community spirit.

Among those in attendance were Talbot County Sheriff Joe Gamble, County Council candidate Christian Mackendrick, County Council candidate Frank Gunsallus, and Councilman Dave Stepp, who joined families and local organizations in marking the occasion.
The event featured educational displays, local vendors, and family-friendly activities highlighting the county’s rich heritage and continued growth.
“It’s great to see so many people come together to celebrate what makes Talbot County special,” said Christian Mackendrick, candidate for Talbot County Council. “Our community’s strength comes from its people, and events like this remind us how important it is to preserve that. As we look ahead, it’s critical that we protect the character of our communities, maintain public safety, and work toward a cost of living that families can truly afford. I’m committed to making sure Talbot County remains a place where people can build a future and raise their families.”
Frank Gunsallus, also a candidate for County Council, emphasized the importance of community unity and engagement.
“Today is about community and connection,” said Gunsallus. “It’s encouraging to see families, neighbors, and local organizations come together to celebrate Talbot County’s history. Events like this highlight the importance of supporting one another, strengthening our local economy, and ensuring that our community continues to be a place people are proud to call home.”
Both Frank Gunsallus and Christian Mackendrick attended the celebration with their wives and young children, bringing a personal, family-centered element to the day. Mackendrick was joined by his wife and their three children — 2-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, and their 4-year-old son — while Gunsallus attended with his wife and their children, a 1-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.
Throughout the event, their children could be seen enjoying the festivities alongside other local families, a reminder that celebrations like this are not just about honoring the past, but creating lasting memories for the next generation. For both families, it was a chance to experience the community firsthand in a way that reflects everyday life in Talbot County — neighbors coming together, children playing, and families connecting.

Councilman Dave Stepp highlighted the importance of honoring the county’s past while looking ahead.
"It has been incredibly heartwarming to see how God has grown Talbot Day over these last few years. It was wonderful to celebrate all things Talbot County and our 365th birthday in the same year we celebrate our nation's 250th." Stepp said. "Thank you to everyone who made Talbot Day a success and thank you to the families, friends, and neighbors who were there to make the day so special!"
The 365th anniversary celebration served as both a reflection on Talbot County’s past and a shared vision for its future, reinforcing a commitment to community, public service, and quality of life.
Sheriff Joe Gamble commented on the event, "Talbot Day was a wonderful celebration of those people who make our county such a unique community. Congratulations to all the nominees who have work so hard to make this place so special."
Candidate Wade Strickland was also in attendance and added his congratulations to Talbot County and to all award recipients and the organizers.
