Jymil Thompson has resigned his position as the District 1 representative on the Talbot County Board of Education because he has been named interim Superintendent of the Dorchester County Public Schools. Thompson replaces David Bromwell who resigned earlier in the month. Thompson had previously been Assistant Superintendent for Dorchester County.

Wes Moore, Maryland Governor, will name Thompson's replacement to fill the District 1 seat on the Board until 2026.

In the Fall, an effort by members of the Talbot County Council to allow either a special election or decision of the Talbot County Council to fill vacated seats was defeated by a 3-2 vote. Council President Chuck Callahan and member Dave Stepp voted for the change which would allow local control of the process. Council Vice President Pete Lesher and members Lynn Mielke and Keasha Haythe voted against it.
