The more I look into the multimillion dollar Strand Beach project the more I realize that the residents of Oxford didn't have a clear vision of exactly what was taking place. Even the Town Manager Cheryl Lewis had no idea what the end result would look like. Lewis and Oxford's top Commissioner Tom Costigan both signed off on this project that took a historic beach that hasn't changed in more than a century and altered it because outsider forces wanted to use Oxford as a guinea pig.
Lewis thought in the end -- the huge boulders and logs would be removed. Now, Underwood and Associates, the company that created this visual nightmare, wants a ton of cash to remove the three logs they put into the design. Keep in mind, these logs were just an added feature. They have nothing to do with engineering. Chris Becraft, of Underwood and Associates, is very clear in his soundbite.
