Resolution 2501 is to be presented this evening at the Town Meeting. The Resolution would allow only residents of the town who are registered with the Talbot County Board of Elections to vote in the election for Commissioner this spring and going forward.
This letter, written by resident Dave Donovan, poses some serious questions regarding the adoption of this resolution:
The EASTON GAZETTE asks other questions as well. One, what is the point of doing this NOW? Two, who stands to benefit from this change? Is there a candidate preparing to run who would prefer that voting would be conducted using this resolution in order to help assure his/her election? Three, if Oxford was out of compliance for all these years, who dropped the ball on keeping the town IN COMPLIANCE?
The Town Meeting is tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the Town's meeting hall.
