When Dave Stepp campaigned for the Talbot County Council, he promised to get rid of lockdowns, mask and vaccine mandates, and ensure religious, medical, and parental rights and freedoms. Now, he is working to keep that promise.

On Tuesday, September 26th, 2023 at 5 p.m. Councilman Stepp will introduce legislation and resolutions to do just that. First, he will push our state legislators to cross-file 2024 legislation allowing Talbot County Council to fill in term vacancies on the Talbot County Board of Education by Council decision, not the Governor. Recently, the seat of Susan Delean Botkin was vacated when she was appointed to the Oxford Town Commissioners leaving a vacancy. After some confusion, officials were told that the Governor had the right to fill that seat, by-passing local input and decision making.

Next, he will propose that "age, disability, health and genetic information" be written into the Talbot County Charter as information that cannot be used to discriminate against citizens.

Then he will propose legislation that will forever get rid of lockdowns, mask and vaccine mandates, and ensure religious, medical, and parental rights and freedoms.

All of the legislation will be voted on that evening.
