Andrea Ye, a trans 18-year-old from Rockville, Maryland wrote a manifesto and said he (she) wanted to be famous like Audrey Hale.
Ye wanted to be famous for shooting up two Montgomery County Schools. He(she) was arrested and charged on April 17, 2024 after local police conducted an investigation in association with the FBI. Officials found a 129-page manifesto detailing the plans for the attack and Ye's desire to be famous like Audrey Hale, the trans school shooter who murdered three children and three adults in Nashville, Tenn.
Hale's manifesto has been delegated to the courts.
The Mongomery County Department of Police issued a statement about the arrest:
"Ye was taken into custody and charged with threats of mass violence. He (she) is currently being held at the Montgomery County Department of Police where he(she) awaits a bond hearing."
Ye's manifesto is included as part of the application for statement of charges.
"I want to shoot up my school. I've been preparing for it for the past few months. As I sit in front of my dad's gun case and stare at the sleek, black gun inside, all I can think about is my finger on the trigger, taking aim, and killing people. The gun is an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle. It's the kind of gun with a long barrel and a stock you put up against your shoulder. The gun is going to change lives tomorrow."
"As I walk through the hallways, I cherry pick the classrooms that are the easiest targets. These ones are close to the entrance and have windows in the doors. I need to figure out how I'll sneak the gun in. Maybe a duffel bag will work. I just hope security doesn't stop me."
Ye goes on to claim he(she) contemplated making bombs and shooting up his former elementary school because "little kids make easier targets...I also hated elementary school. The teachers were evil and the other students were little assholes." Ye then concluded high school would be the best target.
A press conference with more information will be held Friday.
UPDATE: Ye is being held without bond. He (she) had been committed to a local mental health hospital approximately a month ago. It was unclear when Ye was released. He(she) had participated in chats on Discord that were focused on school shootings. A witness had read Ye's writing and called in to authorities with concerns that the teenager might be planning violence.
Rockville Police did a welfare check on Ye in March, but the parents would not allow them to search the home without a warrant.
In 2022, Ye had been hospitalized after making statements threatening to shoot up a school and for expressing suicidal ideations. He was also hospitalized from February 20 through July of 2023 because of homicidal ideations.
