Ever wonder which books your child has access to at school? In 3 easy steps, you can discover and review any book in your child's school media center and make an informed decision on what you find objectional or inappropriate for the school learning environment.
You can start here. This list only contains some obscene books found in K-12 schools.
You can also do a web search for "Top challenged books in school libraries" which should bring back many results and web links, which you can lookup their titles below.
Below is an excellent resource called BookLooks.org. You can search for titles alphabetically and click each book to see a summary of contents along with excerpts from the book. Each book is rated on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being most extreme with language, sexual content, drug and alcohol use, abuse, violence, etc. When you find a book that's objectionable, you can then check to see if the book is in your child's school in STEP 3.

You can also go to YouTube to find story reads and parental commentary on titles to actually read along and see the pages in a book.
Below you will find a link to county school media centers where you can look up book titles and authors to discover books in your child's school. From this, you can make an informed decision when it comes to dealing with school officials on the suitability and selection of materials.

The Delmarva Parent Teacher Coalition was formed in response to sexually related books and instructional materials in public schools that are emotionally, mentally, and physically harmful to children, as evidenced by rising rates of depression and other psychological disorders. The content of said materials ranges from explicit to inexplicit sexual activities including but not limited to rape, incest, and hook-up dating.
We support lawful efforts to expose the obscene books and materials currently available and used in Maryland public schools. Our goal is to alert parents to the sexual content and potential harm to their children; in the process we aim to avoid exposing children to obscene content or to breaking any laws. We support the efforts of other groups advocating for change in the policy and integration of appropriate books for minors. We also support efforts to strengthen the security at all schools. We do not support trespassing or distributing materials with sexual content.
