The Oxford Town Commissioners cancelled the Work Session they had planned for today, July 18, due to to issues regarding compliance with the Maryland Open Meetings Act which requires an earlier notice. Residents will be notified when the work session will be held.
There have been questions regarding the town's compliance with the law in the past. In 1992, the town responded to a report of violations via their lawyer, David Thompson:

It has also been noted in the past year that the town holds what many think are an inordinate amount of closed meetings for a town of 650 residents:

It has been confirmed to this writer that residents have currently filed complaints regarding Open Meetings Act compliance by the town. None of those complaints were about the above scheduled Commissioner's Work Session.
