It is clear that such antics are a way of introducing families with children to a form of entertainment that once belonged only in the demi-monde of ultra-sophisticated society (or ultra-debased society, however you want to look at it.) The year 1980 was my introduction to such things, when during a trip to Paris with my high school French class we were taken to a show at the Lido, although it was not men dressed as women but women practically undressed. It was an art form, we were told. But it was late at night and there were no small children present, I can assure you. Later that year, the same teachers took some of us who were 18 to Georgetown to see the original French version La Cage aux Folles. Once again, no small children were present. In my mind it was all part of French culture, which everyone knew had been decadent beyond repair since at least the fifteenth century. So why is tawdry filth, coarse beyond anything in La Cage aux Folles, suddenly part of a family's Sunday afternoon recreation in Talbot County? I hope parents refuse to go. On Tuesday April 23, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the meadow beside the GOP Headquarters on Glebe Road in Easton, citizens of Talbot County gathered to eat pizza and cookies, socialize, buy Trump t-shirts and listen to speeches from three of our elected officials. It was slightly chilly and windy but a spectacularly lovely clear evening with over sixty guests present. The "Pizza and Politics" evenings occur once a month and are the brainchild of Talbot County Republican Central Committee member Lori Stepp, who certainly knows where to get the best pizza in town. But the main success is that it is an evening for concerned citizens to recreate and talk with their elected officials about the issues of the day.
The invited speakers were State Senator Johnny Mautz (District 37), Delegate Chris Adams (District 37B), and Delegate Tom Hutchinson (District 37B). Delegate Adams spoke about about the challenges of being a Republican in a Democrat run run House under Democrat Governor Wes Moore. Governor Moore continues to raise taxes, driving the Maryland economy into the ground. The departments of the Maryland executive branch have been weaponized against the citizens by going after small businesses, looking for reasons to fine them so as to fill the state coffers. We must demand accountability from our governor, as well as support for law enforcement, as crime is surging throughout the state, especially in Baltimore.
Delegate Hutchinson discussed the various bills he co-sponsored to benefit healthcare and lower crime, including those which encourage the availability of more physician assistants, the reduction of wait-time in emergency rooms, and a bill that remands violent child criminals to the juvenile court. Because of the opposition of the Left it was often an uphill battle. However, he also assured us that his office is there to serve the people and that working for the people of the Eastern Shore is the most rewarding job he has ever had.
Senator Mautz described the "progressive machine" that has been launched by Moore in order to push extreme left-wing agendas upon the people of Maryland, with Talbot County being the test case. Moore is a skilled politician who has brought in people from outside Maryland to implement his policies. The hands of our police and sheriffs are tied as criminals have more rights than victims. He mentioned two cases of violence in the public high schools of Talbot County in March of this year, in which students brutally assaulted teachers. As crime rises, the Moore administration continue to seek ways of depriving law-abiding citizens of their second amendment rights. The senator encouraged the listeners to hang on to their principles while sticking together. He reminded us of the importance of battle for the local school board, where recent appointments have been made by Wes Moore, which means our children will be guinea pigs in a social experiment meant to create a so-called "equitable" society. Or "Communism" as one lady in the audience said.

On April 24, 2024 the Talbot Community Group of Concerned Citizens met at the Easton firehouse at 6:00 pm with Sheriff Joe Gamble to discuss topics concerning the well-being and safety of all. Sheriff Joe gave updates on legislation regarding crime. In Talbot County more people from other areas are coming to our town and stealing. The guest speaker was JoAnn Mueller who worked for many years as a prison chaplain in Philadelphia. She spoke of the seven spheres: government, education, business, family, media, arts/entertainment and religion and how we need to speak up and put God back into those things. Our own Jan Greenhawk updated the group on bills which seek to abridge parental authority. Many others spoke as well and offered useful information.
Concerning the battle for the school board, it is at the heart of the tug-of-war going on between people who value liberty and traditional values and those who want the country to descend into the morass of Wokery. Childhood is relatively short and the years in which a child's mind, emotions and morals can be formed are crucial to their entire existence. So when the people in charge of education decide to let children decide daily to change their gender and their pronouns if they feel like it, they are sowing confusion in young minds. To confuse a child at the most basic level of their being is a grave imprudence with often serious consequences. Therefore we implore parents of Talbot County to vote for candidates for the school board who will help our children to be educated rather than brainwashed. They are Anne O'Connor (District 2), Karla Wieland Cherry (District 5) and Kerry Gunshenan (District 6). This is the battle which responsible citizens and concerned parents must win, for it will make or break Talbot County.
