The Wicomico County Board of Education had a work session on February 20, 2024 to revisit the Selection and Review of Textbooks, Instructional Materials, and Media Materials Policy, a policy that they all created and voted to approve on May 9, 2023. Among their discussions was to continue to exclude resident-taxpayers from their policy or having any say over what goes into local schools, despite the fact that schools are funded by citizen tax dollars.
Ironically, the board allows political activist organizations and liberal faculty to have a say on materials, allowing inappropriate books to enter into the school without question. This policy and procedure fully opened the door to obscene materials and handed complete control to the superintendent and his staff.
The 4-minute video below is a summary of the work session that shows the defiance against resident-taxpayers and even conspiring for retaliatory actions against citizens to "make them pay."

Maryland Constitution
Article 1. That all Government of right originates from the People, is founded in compact only, and instituted solely for the good of the whole; and they have, at all times, the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their Form of Government in such manner as they may deem expedient.
Art. 4. That the People of this State have the sole and exclusive right of regulating the internal government and police thereof, as a free, sovereign and independent State.
Every time this policy is revisited, they double-down and add more conditions to preserve the obscene materials and to advance the agenda to sexualize children under the guise of "right to read." One of their defiant amendments even includes a 5-year term before a book can be reevaluated by the Review Committee if a book was previously challenged.
Gene Malone (District 2) , Allen Brown (District 1) Bonnie Ennis (At Large), and David Plotts (District 4) willfully defied the citizens of Wicomico County. Meanwhile school safety and academic proficiency continues to decline, as they advance their failed liberal-progressive agendas.
The other three, Kristin Hazel (At Large), Susan Beauchamp (District 3), and John Palmer (District 5) did not support the effort to exclude the citizens.
