After two years on the Talbot County Board of Education as one of two members of the Board who were in the employ of the Dorchester County Public Schools, Dr. Jymil Thompson has been appointed as the interim Superintendent of Schools in Dorchester County. He is replacing David Bromwell who has been Dorchester's Superintendent since 2020.

Bromwell will resign his position effective March 1, 2024.

Thompson has been the Assistant Superintendent in the district since September 2023. Thompson's rise through the ranks in the county began as he was named Assistant Principal in 2017 at Mace's Lane Middle School and was elevated to the post of principal in 2020. He was elected to the Talbot County Board of Education in 2022.

The Dorchester County Board of Education will begin the search for a new Superintendent to take office on July 1.

It is not known if Thompson will continue his position on the Talbot County School Board.
