HSLDA Legislative AlertMARYLANDLegislation Affecting Homeschoolers Scheduled for Hearing in AnnapolisDear Friends of Homeschool Freedom in Maryland,

We wanted to make you aware of a good bill scheduled for a hearing in Maryland.

Senate Bill 749 would provide opportunities for the Maryland government to cover some community college tuition costs for homeschooled high school students seeking dual-enrollment. It is scheduled for a committee hearing on March 6, at 1 p.m., before the Senate Committee on Education, Energy, and the Environment, located in the West Miller Senate Building, Room 2, Annapolis, MD.

You can see more details about this hearing and read the bill here.VOLUNTARY PROGRAMI plan on testifying in support of this bill on March 6. If passed, this bill would create a strictly voluntary program, and homeschool families could decide whether or not to participate.

If this bill is of interest to you, we encourage you to contact your state senator and ask him or her to support this bill. You can find your Maryland state senator here.

We are joined in supporting S.B. 749 by our friends at the Maryland Association of Christian Home Educators.
