    U.S. Representative Brad Wenstrup sent a letter to CDC Director Mandy Cohen on August 2, 2023, in response to a Spectrum News interview where Cohen indicated a likely change regarding guidance on covid shots. Cohen said she anticipated that, "COVID will become similar to flu shots, where it is going to be you get your annual flu shot and you get your annual COVID shot.”

    Wenstrup said that if the anticipated CDC recommendation is put into place, it would mark a "significant change in federal policy and guidance regarding COVID-19 vaccines and the way in which they are utilized."

    In order to gain better insight into the decision-making process and potential ramification of the changes, the House Select Subcommittee On The Coronavirus Pandemic requested the following:

    1. All documents and communications between or among CDC or Department of Health and Human Services employees or contractors regarding recommending annual (or any other time-based iteration) COVID-19 booster shots;
    2. All documents and communications between or among CDC employees or contractors and the White House, including any personnel within the Executive Office of the President, regarding recommending annual (or any other time-based iteration) COVID-19 booster shots; and
    3. All documents and communications between or among CDC employees or contractors and any CDC stakeholder, including the CDC Foundation, regarding recommending annual (or any other time-based iteration) COVID-19 booster shots.

    The Select Subcommittee also requested a briefing regarding the CDC’s process of recommending annual COVID-19 booster shots to take place on August 9, 2023.

    Demand for covid shots has fallen off a cliff because people are waking up to the dangers these shots could potentially pose, including myocarditis, blood clots and even sudden death.
