There are 108,000 children and youth in the United States who are available for adoption and are still without a permanent, nurturing family to help them thrive during their most formative years. That number is astonishing in a country such as ours.

What is even more astonishing is that the State of Oregon is making it harder for these children to find homes. According to the non-profit Alliance Defending Freedom, Oregon, even though they try to match children with families of similar beliefs, is now Oregon is now requiring that ALL potential adoptive parents agree to promote radical gender ideology to children—even to the point of facilitating a child’s access to dangerous procedures, like potentially sterilizing puberty blockers.

Other states like Washington are considering the same measures, depriving children of loving homes all because parents may not believe in radical gender ideology, surgery and treatments. In their minds, it is better for a child to have no family.

This is an illuminating view into the zealotry that exists around gender ideology and shows who support it are unwilling to allow the best needs of children to be the primary focus.

Alliance Defending Freedom has filed multiple lawsuits to ensure loving Christian families aren’t excluded from the foster and adoption system. They should be able to provide homes for needy children like everybody else—without being forced to violate their religious beliefs.
